The satellite islands and islets around La Digue, Cocos, Petite Soeur, Grande Soeur and Marianne, are very famous for their rich marine life and the abundant multitude of coral and fishes surrounding them. Snorkelling around the coral reefs of these islands is breath-taking!
  • FELICITE ISLAND: :
Felicite is a rocky island with little flat land. The island is an exclusive getaway, for small groups or families, being operating by La Digue Lodge Hotel. The protected waters of the island provide excellent snorkelling.
  • SISTERS ISLANDS :

    Big Sister

In a sea of beautiful islands, east Sister has a charm of its own. Sister Island is the only of the granitic islands which has till now escaped development of any kind and is now managed by the Chateau De Feuilles Hotel on Praslin and all visitors staying at the Relais and Chateau Chaine are using the island as a day to day gate away island. The island is shaped in a figure of eight, with the centre portion being not much more than 200m wide, and only a few meters above sea level. The inhabitants and guardians of the island live in a simple traditional house and raise chickens, ducks and turkeys which they feed on coconuts collected on the island. The coconut husks are used as fuel for barbecues by visiting boats bringing clients for an island treat. And only visitors to this island will understand how fortunate they are when relaxing in the shade of the Beaudamier Tree gazing out over Praslin and La Digue in the distance.

    Small Sister
Small Sister also known as west Sister is a rocky island with no flatland, and a beach on the southwest shore which is protected by a reef which prevents access in anything other than the calmest seas. In the past the coconuts collected on the island were used in the production of copra. The island is currently uninhabited.

  • COCO ISLAND:

Between Felicite and the Sisters, Coco Island provides excellent snorkelling in the most picturesque of settings. An idyllic rocky islet covered in palm trees, Coco Island and its surrounds has been closed to the public for more than 10 years. This was to allow the reef to recover from damage done by environmentally unaware visitors, Coco Island has been reopened as a National Park, and wardens are present to monitor the activities of visitors.
  • MARIANNE:

This privately owned island now lies uninhabited and once was the home of 60 people. Originally believed to have been home to most species of endemic birds, as well as breeding colonies for numerous seabirds, the natural vegetation of the island was destroyed to make way for agriculture, and with the natural vegetation went the birds. Today the striking island is covered with coconut palms, a reminder to the importance of copra industry of the past. Surrounded by rocky shores, except for a single beach on the southwest side, access to Marianne by boat is limited to periods of very calm sea. A Paradise for divers….
